Alpha Kappa Alpha Alpha To Establish NEW UNDERGRADUATE Chapter at Oglethorpe University, Fall 2012

The ladies of pink and green are making their way to Oglethorpe!

During the spring 2012 semester, the Oglethorpe University Greek Affairs was contacted about establishing a chapter in fall 2012. The request was approved by the administration and the office will be moving forward with the process establishing the organization on campus. Rush events are scheduled for early September.

Founded in 1835, Atlanta’s Oglethorpe University enrolls over 1,000 students representing 34 states and 28 countries. The school currently has a small greek population. Its website displays only 4 sororities and 3 fraternities on campus. With the charter of this chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc will be the first historically black sorority to be charted on campus.

Intake can be an exciting time for chapter members and those interested, especially when chartering new waters!  Take time to cherish it! Especially in the fall (SINCE I CROSSED IN THE FALL).  Congratulations to Oglethorpe University, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and the young women on campus.

  1. That’s wonderful news. Pink and Green on the campus will contribute to our goal of providing service to our communities. While checking university sites with greeks on various campuses, I noticed that Wilberforce University, an Historically Black University in Wilberforce, Ohio, does not have the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha listed as greeks on their campus. Hopefully, that will change also. The university was home to Zeta Chapter which was the first chapter in the Great Lakes Region to charter an undergraduate chapter. We should continue the legacy of that chapter.

  2. I think this is expansion at Oglethorpe is very nice. My daughter is a student at SUNY Oswego and i know she and a few other girls at SUNY Oswego who have been contacting their closest AKA graduate chapter to work towards starting a chapter at their school. However, they have either been denied several times or have not received responses at all. I do know they are in great academic standing and are very involved on campus. They are great students but cannot achieve their goal of joining this prestigious sorority and fulfill their undergraduate years. Could you please look into that matter?
